5 tips to save heat in your rental property

The snow and temperatures have both dropped in recent days and winter has arrived. With the cold creeping in, there's a natural need to turn up the heat in your rental property. But it doesn't have to mean that your heating bills have to skyrocket. At a time when energy prices continue to fluctuate and it's more important than ever that we keep energy consumption to a minimum, even simple tips and changes in daily routines can make a big difference. Both for the environment and your wallet. Based on the Danish Energy Agency's recommendations, we've put together five tips on how you can save energy, money and CO2 at work and at home.

Tip 1: Keep the temperature at 18-20 degrees

You save up to 5% on your heating bill for every degree you turn down. If you also lower the temperature at night at work or when you're away from home, the savings are even greater.

Tip 2: Set thermostats equally and heat all rooms

Set the thermostatic valve to 3 max. 4 on all radiators in all rooms. This ensures even heat distribution. If you want a lower temperature in a room, make sure to keep the door to the room closed.

Tip 3: Ventilate

Yes, it may sound a little strange that you save money by letting in cold air. But ventilating with drafts helps the indoor climate and actually makes it easier to heat up the room. Ventilate for 5-10 minutes in the morning and again in the afternoon, and remember to turn off your radiators during this time.

Tip 4: Give the radiator space

Leaving free air in front of the radiators gives the heat a better chance to circulate around the room, so you don't need to turn up the heat unnecessarily. Also make sure that the temperature sensor is not covered.

Tip 5: Curtains and blinds provide practical insulation at night

Even if it's dark outside, it's a good idea to close curtains and blinds at the end of the day and in the evening. This helps retain heat throughout the night. Conversely, it's good to open them again in the morning so that the sun's rays can boost the temperature in the room - and your mood.

... And remember that a good energy label can make a big difference.

Both for your heat consumption and for the environment!
