Dansign: When a company's creative profile is reflected in its interior design

For more than 40 years, Dansign has been helping companies put their best face forward. Now the signage and branding company puts into words how they set their own framework.

As soon as you walk through the door at Dansign in Rødovre, you get the feeling that everything is coming together. The word "DEDICATION" is written in capital letters on the entrance wall and guides you into the branding and signage company's premises. But it's the lounge area's plush sofa sets and neon-inspired signage mounted on a light oak acoustic panel that really welcomes you in. "SIGNAGE, BRANDING, WAYFINDING" is what the bright letters say. A message that conveys that signage is about so much more than 'just' signage.

Deliberate playful interior design

For CEO Mikael Mielke, it is important that the interior design can reflect the professional and creative profile that Dansign has outwardly, but it must also do more than just that - "We want to give people a surprise when they enter the building. It's about being able to inspire our customers, but at the same time giving our employees a proper working environment with room for space and breathing space."

But how do you design with an eye for inspiration, comfort and practicality? For Mikael Mielke, it has partly been a matter of playing around. This is the case with the office and meeting rooms' latest addition, the inspirational quotes from great people throughout history whose values align with the company's. The fact that the CEO could match the quote in his office with a pair of Picasso-inspired cushions only added to the synergy.

However, the company is not quite finished with its latest interior design project, and it's not an easy task either. There are a lot of cogs that need to fit together to make the office and production area work smoothly together and appear as a natural extension of each other, also visually. The next step is to create a lounge area in the production hall and a showroom in the large room that connects the office and production.

Still evolving at a rapid pace

It's only just over two years since Dansign moved into Stensdal Group's striking multi-user property on Valhøjs Allé in Rødovre, and in that time a lot has already happened for the over 40-year-old company. "Asa company, you can grow in many different ways.Over thepast two years, we've grown somewhat in size, but we've also really grown in some of the types of tasks we solve," says Mikael Mielke.

As a company in rapid development, it was important to Dansign that their new home offered opportunities for expansion and flexibility. This has been fulfilled at Valhøjs Allé, says Mikael Mielke, who is also pleased that their specific needs for a combined office and production hall could be met in a property in Greater Copenhagen. The flexibility they once sought is precisely what they now pass on to their employees and the smaller companies that rent Dansign's unused space, says the CEO - "For us, it's important to create a setting where people get along and find it cozy and nice to be in. There must be opportunities for sparring and immersion in different environments."
