Dansk Bilglas: The right framework for growth

A conscious growth strategy and the right physical environment. With growth of 30% since 2020, one of Denmark's largest chains in the repair and replacement of automotive glass hasn't pulled the handbrake at all - quite the opposite. This development is also felt at the Zealand head office in Brøndby.

The business model is pretty straightforward if you believe CEO Peter Stig Christensen - "Our success is measured by how many windows we replace or stone chips we repair, and that's where we've made steady progress."

This is not because the number of cracked car windows in Denmark has exploded in just a few years. On the contrary, it has been a deliberate growth strategy where the company has changed hands in the meantime. Although a Swedish group now owns Dansk Bilglas, the company's business is of course still the same, says the CEO. At their Zealand headquarters in Brøndby, it is also clear that things are moving fast. Here, cars with cracked glass drive in at a steady pace. About two hours later, they usually drive out again. With around 3,000 panes in stock, there are very few cars that cannot be fixed on the same day.

A unique location

The location on Vallensbækvej in Brøndby is the company's hub on Zealand and also serves as a warehouse for the remaining eight locations on the island. It is also where the company's Zealand administration is located. Therefore, the location in Brøndby is in many ways very special and is only topped by Dansk Bilglas' head office in Nørresundby outside Aalborg. Therefore, the location and the premises also had to be special, says Peter Stig Christensen - "We have found a place here where we can have it all. That was the most important thing. With 28 locations around Denmark, of which we rent 21, we have found something unique with Stensdal Group. It makes a huge difference that there's no hassle, hassle or hassle. Everything just runs smoothly."

But it's not just the lack of hassle that pleases the CEO of the 60-year-old company. Having the highway in their backyard also has its advantages. Since moving in in December 2018, they expanded their mobile service part of the business considerably, and for good reason, says Peter Stig Christensen - "It's easy to get out of here and it's relatively central. This enables our mobile installers to service up to Lyngby, down to Køge and all the way over to Roskilde."

Customer in the driver's seat

A hot cup of coffee, a sandwich or a yogurt. In the fridge in the waiting area, customers can help themselves to the essentials. There are also armchairs and tables to sit and work while you wait. Despite the significant growth, it seems that Dansk Bilglas has not lost sight of what really matters: good customer service. This is also evident in Brøndby, and Peter Stig Christensen makes no secret of the fact that they have gone the extra mile with their customer area in Brøndby - "We wanted to create an area that customers found attractive and pleasant to be in. A place where they can relax or work with a hot cup of coffee and a bite to eat while they wait. The hope was that it would make a difference to them, and so far the response has been really good."

That's the impression you get. In one of the armchairs sits a middle-aged man reading one of the many magazines on the coffee table. At the high table sits a woman typing on her computer. A half-eaten yogurt and a cup of coffee are next to her. Of course, you can also take the opportunity to sit down and watch with fascination as the windshield fitters work on the other side of the rows of windows at the reception desk. It's a bit like sitting in your own living room, only with the TV replaced by a window into another world.
