G&O Maritime: "A move that marks a milestone"

You only have to take a few steps through the door at G&O Maritime's head office before your eyes are drawn to the large white wall and the six letters that make up the company's strategic focus: Closer. According to CEO Anders Egehus, it's about being closer to their customers and partners, and working closer together. Both with each other and as a single unit. This approach has also paved the way for looking for new, attractive and modern premises for their head office that better reflect the company's strategic focus and growth ambitions. With the takeover of their new headquarters at Lundtoftegårdsvej 95 in Lyngby on May 1, 2024, it is, according to Anders Egehusan important step on the company journey.

G&O Maritime, led by CEO Anders Egehus, is a global player in specialized quality products for the maritime industry. The company is not just a composite entity, but a group that has made a number of strategic acquisitions since 2014. "We believe that through acquisitions we can help smaller companies realize their full potential," says Anders Egehus. Today, G&O Maritime consists of six brands offering niche products and solutions for the maritime sector. All with clear objectives to contribute to the green transition of the maritime industry. Despite G&O Maritime's growth and global presence, the company has managed to build a corporate culture where being 'closer to home' is at the core of everything they do.

Welcome inside

Closeness and presence is also the immediate feeling you get when you step inside G&O Maritime at Lundtoftegårdsvej 95 in Lyngby. Although it may sound like a cliché, one is tempted to say that you get maritime associations. Because it feels a bit like a calm day at sea: The atmosphere is calm. It invites contemplation and concentration. Not to be confused with being boring. On the contrary, there is something special and magical about the place. Like when the sun's rays break through the morning mist and create a shining mirror on the sea surface.

The modern interior design. The placement of small open oases that invite informal chats over a cup of coffee and the opportunity to immerse yourself in the colorful and closed rooms. This, combined with the welcoming light and the spaciousness and distribution of the rooms, exudes a discreet elegance that makes an impression wherever you spend time in the almost 1,800 m2 office space. The combination of diverse spaces, the many angles of the lease, and thoughtful details accurately reflect the journey that G&O Maritime has been on and the continued level of ambition: From a small player, to today being a complex global group under one common umbrella that together provides solutions for tomorrow's challenges in the maritime industry.

Modern facilities welcome the community

The new head office in the building at Lundtoftegårdsvej 95 is designed with a focus on light, space and flexibility. At the same time, it has been a very conscious choice to break up the open-plan office with several 'lounge environments', which aim to promote community and informal coffee chats among colleagues and guests at the office. Pernille Stendevad, Head of Global Marketing, adds: "We have an environment that is bright and welcoming, and at the same time the spaces play well together. It provides an optimal distribution with a variety of open-plan offices, lounge areas, and the meeting rooms in the middle of the premises mean that light is welcomed everywhere. The spaces are designed to promote and provide the best conditions for both individual work tasks and collaboration across teams." There is only time for a short pause, to which Anders Egehus interjects:

"We get the best of both worlds by being here."

Strategic location close to DTU

Before the move, G&O Maritime had their head office in Allerød, where space was becoming a limitation: "As Pernille said, we needed more space to handle more meetings with our colleagues at the different locations, and at the same time create a work environment where colleagues could shut themselves away and immerse themselves," explains Anders Egehus. Stensdal Group's multi-user property in Kongens Lyngby was chosen, and it wasn't just the interior setting and the property's future shared facilities that were crucial. The location has great strategic value. The Elsinore highway and the future light rail right out front are convenient, of course. But the Technical University of Denmark is the big draw. DTU is located just down the road, and this location gives G&O Maritime a unique opportunity to attract the best talent and strengthen their collaboration with the academic world, and thus also their talent development.

"We wanted to be close to DTU to attract that target group as they are in our food chain."

Good dialog, responsiveness and quick response

When it comes to the collaboration with Stensdal Group and the process before, during and after moving into the new head office, the feedback is also clear. A good dialog and a quick and smooth process of getting the premises ready. Anders Egehus elaborates:

"It was great that the move was quick, and from the time we made the decision, it took no more than three months until the renovation was complete and we could move in on May 1. I really expected that date to be pushed back, but it wasn't, and it was good work."

Since Stensdal Group took over the property at Lundtoftegårdsvej 95-97 in Lyngby on March 1, 2024, a major renovation has taken place to increase the attractiveness of the property. In addition to refurbishing several commercial leases, work is also underway to roll out a new multi-user concept to improve the well-being of the tenants' employees. In addition to a cosmetic lift with a new signature color on the facade and better wayfinding, the property will also have a new arrival area, training room and changing facilities, a sustainable canteen concept, and outdoor areas dedicated to better biodiversity. Stensdal Group has continuously chosen to involve and test the many ambitions for the property with the existing tenants in the property on Lundtoftegårdsvej. This has provided valuable feedback and has not gone unnoticed by Anders Egehus, who concludes the interview:

"It is clear that the dialogue with Stensdal Group has been characterized by responsiveness and flexibility. We have had the impression that we are asked and heard, and that we are included in the visions for the property."
