No more beef for lunch
October 12, 2023
Yep, that's a good one. It is now common knowledge that beef is not the most climate-friendly food we can consume. This was highlighted in August, when a report from CONCITO emphasized that the beef we eat at home and in the country's canteens alone accounts for 55% of the greenhouse gas emissions that come from our food.
Although we are well aware that our decision to stop serving beef in our office lunch program is not where we as a real estate company make the biggest climate difference, we want to take action in several different areas. At the same time, we believe that we are hopefully one of many more workplaces that choose to cut down or completely eliminate the consumption of beef in the lunch program. This can actually help to reduce the huge climate footprint that beef has.
This decision is part of our ongoing focus on a lunch program that is healthy, with more vegetarian days and a focus on reducing food waste. The food we have left over from today's lunch can be packed and taken home for employees to enjoy with their families.
